If you’re brave enough to embark on this ride, here are a few tips to (maybe) keep you from completely losing your mind: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Build a community<\/strong>: Find other authors who understand your struggles and accomplishments. I find Threads<\/em> by Instagram to be particularly good at that.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Learn to love marketing<\/strong>: Just kidding! But you’ll learn to tolerate it and build a stable routine.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Celebrate small wins<\/strong>: Finished a chapter? Treat yourself. Got a 5-star review? Pop the champagne. Wrote a sentence that didn’t make you cringe? You’re basically Shakespeare.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Why It’s Worth It<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    At the end of the day, being an independent author is about proving to yourself that you can create something out of nothing. It’s about embracing the mess, the mistakes, and the magic.<\/strong> And yeah, it’s about surviving 2 am crises with your sanity (mostly) intact. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
